Minimum Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree in Forest Management or a related field from a regionally
accredited institution with three to five years of work or teaching experience in the field of Forestry Management is required. A thorough
understanding of the practical application of forestry techniques is required. The candidate must possess excellent oral and written
communication skills and proficient with computer software programs including Microsoft Word and Excel, GPS/GIS Software, Forest Inventory
Software, and Growth and Yield Programs. The applicant must be able to coordinate extended field activities involving multiple students and
have current registration as a Forester in North Carolina or the ability to obtain this registration within the first 18 months of
employment. A valid North Carolina driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record is required. Experience teaching in a
post-secondary educational setting is preferred. Bilingual is preferred.
Position
Duties:
The Forestry Instructor reports to the Agriculture and Natural Resources Department Chair. The
primary duties are to teach classroom and lab sessions, conduct subject research, evaluate student progress, develop instructional plans,
and advise students. The Forestry Instructor will request new materials, maintain records, prepare reports, assist in graduate job
referrals, and maintain all laboratories used by Forest Management Technology. The Instructor will develop courses and syllabi; maintain a
safe and orderly instructional environment in the classroom, lab, shop, and/or clinical settings; participate in planning sessions,
meetings, faculty orientation, registration activities, marketing, and recruitment activities. Participation in graduation, complete all
required professional development, and perform all other duties as assigned.
