Non-tenure-track Professor of Practice Position of Chemical Engineering University of South Alabama

The Department of Chemical and Biomolecular
Engineering at the University of South Alabama (USA) in Mobile, Alabama invites applications for a non-tenure-track Professor of Practice
faculty position in Chemical Engineering. The start date will be Spring 2022 or as soon as the successful candidate can be in place.
Candidates must have an earned Master’s or Ph.D. degree in chemical engineering or related field and 5+ years of practical and/or
research experience (e.g. experience in pilot plant or chemical manufacturing processes with emphasis on process instrumentation, analytic
equipment operation and maintenance and troubleshooting (especially gas chromatographs), control system operation and installation, and
process safety) .

This is a full-time 12-month position to organize, supervise and advance laboratory-based courses in the College of
Engineering. The individual will ensure proper operation and modernization of laboratory-based courses including analytic equipment and
process instrumentation. Modernization will occur throughout the academic year and especially during the summer term. The individual is
expected to enrich the experiences of students by bringing industry best practices to USA. Some instruction in non-laboratory-based
engineering courses, primarily design, may occur on a limited basis. The individual is not expected to conduct research, but they will be
encouraged to do so when appropriate.

The individual will also: a) serve on committees related to undergraduate education; b) serve
as a liaison for the college within the University community for matters related to curricula and undergraduate education; c) help manage
the senior check-out, scholarship awards and advising processes for undergraduates in the Department; and, d) help conduct orientation
sessions for new undergraduates and provide tours/information for prospective undergraduates.

The University of South Alabama is a
public, doctoral-level institution enrolling more than 14,000 students. The Chemical Engineering Department is housed in a 155,000 s.f.
state-of-the-art building opened in 2012. The department offers BSChE and MSChE degrees, with the BSChE program continuously accredited by
ABET since 1983. The USA College of Engineering offers the Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) in Systems Engineering and a Biomedical Engineering
track within the Ph.D. in Basic Medical Sciences in conjunction with the USA College of Medicine.

Mobile is located on Alabama’s Gulf
Coast, with easy access to pristine beaches and excellent recreational opportunities. Mobile is a busy international port and a main center
of commerce for approximately 600,000 people in Alabama’s two coastal counties.
