Assistant Professor of Computer Information Systems


Southeastern Oklahoma State University’s Department of Chemistry, Computer, and Physical Sciences invites applicants for a tenure
track Assistant Professor of Computer Information Systems.

SUMMARY: Duties and
responsibilities include, but are not limited to: teaching undergraduate level computer science and computer information systems courses
face-to-face and online; supervising undergraduate student research projects; participating in professional, program, departmental, school,
and university committees; participating in research activities with publications and/or presentations specific to computer science or
computer information systems. The standard teaching load is four courses per semester (Fall and Spring).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
AND RESPONSIBILITIES
:

  • Teach all courses as assigned (including CIS and CS courses).
  • Create and/or “maintain” course syllabi in accordance with departmental and university guidelines.
  • Maintain
    well-organized Blackboard platform for all courses.
  • Complete Quality Matters (QM) Online Instruction Training Modules.
  • Maintain 10 regular posted on-campus office hours per week.
  • Conduct advisement with undergraduate computer information systems
    majors and minors.
  • Serve on a limited number of university and department committees.
  • Conduct research that leads to
    journal publication in field.
  • Regularly communicate with the CS/CIS Program Coordinator and Department Chair.
  • Remain in
    compliance with all Southeastern policies and procedures.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND
EXPERIENCE

REQUIRED: Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or a related field.Will
consider ABD with completion of dissertation by August 2021.

PREFERRED: Preferred candidates will possess knowledge
and interest in teaching courses all levels of the CIS major. Candidates who are qualified to teach courses in a specialized area within the
field of CIS (i.e., database analysis, data communications, systems analysis, etc.) are strongly encouraged to apply. Successful applicants
will demonstrate collegiality, effective interpersonal skills, and a positive attitude toward students.

Salary will be commensurate with
