Tenure Track Faculty Position in Accounting

Emporia State University, an AACSB-accredited School of Business with a Masters of Accountancy and an MBA with an Accounting Concentration, is seeking qualified accounting candidates with interest in financial and/or managerial accounting (other interests considered) to fill a tenure-track, nine-month position beginning in August, 2021, at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, dependent on qualifications. Preferably, the position will be filled with a Ph.D. in accounting, or equivalent from an AACSB-accredited school. Candidates with terminal qualifications in a related discipline will be considered. ABDs in the final stage of their dissertation, with degree expected to be received by May 2022, will also be considered. Priority will be given to candidates who meet AACSB faculty qualifications. Relevant teaching and/or industry experience in accounting is a plus.

The successful candidate will exhibit potential for excellent teaching and scholarly research in support of the School and will be expected to make contributions in service to the School, University, and broader community. Candidates should have experience/willingness to teach in a variety of formats (face-to-face, blended, and expedited online). This position will also teach graduate courses. Summer teaching is available in most years. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. A background check is required.

The School of Business, with a faculty of 30, provides educational services to approximately 950 students. The city of Emporia has 26,500 residents, with a low cost of living, a rich cultural heritage, a diversified economy based on agriculture, more than 33 manufacturing enterprises and retail shopping and wholesale facilities. The region is noted for the rolling expansive Flint Hills of east central Kansas with major water recreation areas located close by. Emporia is centrally located between Wichita, Topeka, and Kansas City metropolitan areas.
