The Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track
position in Environmental Science and Geography (#F0040) to begin August 2021. The Department seeks a broadly trained geoscientist,
environmental geologist, or physical geographer who will contribute to our Integrated Environmental Sciences Program, as well as our Earth
Science and Geography minors. Preference will be given to candidates with geographic information science and/or remote sensing experience
who can contribute to our anticipated Geographic Information Sciences minor.

Primary teaching responsibilities will include
interdisciplinary environmental sciences courses that strongly integrate natural and social sciences, introductory physical geography and
environmental geology courses, and upper-level courses in the area of the candidate’s expertise. Contributions to Longwood’s new Civitae
Core Curriculum as well as the preparation of excellent future educators will be an important aspect of teaching responsibilities. The
standard teaching load is 12 contact hours per semester. The University will provide dedicated research space as well as modest start-up


The successful candidate will have an earned PH.D., strong commitment to excellence
and innovation in undergraduate teaching, potential to develop a successful research program in an undergraduate setting, dedication to
quality advising of students and supervision of undergraduate research, and commitment to service to the University and local communities. A
demonstrated ability and commitment to working with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff, and constituents in support of the
university mission is preferred.

This is a full-time, tenure-track, instructional
faculty position. Salary will be commensurate with credentials and experience. Commonwealth of Virginia benefits accompany this position. A
