The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS) at University of Virginia is seeking highly qualified applicants for a Post Doctoral Research Associate position.
Work focuses on a study of how neural networks can be used to identify teaching and learning activities in videos of elementary mathematics and reading/language arts classrooms. Specific duties include developing video processing algorithms, analyzing the accuracy and efficiency of different neural networks in identifying instructional activities; attending research team meetings; and helping co-write manuscripts for publication. Incumbents will also receive support and mentoring in ways to improve research skills, the preparation of grant proposals, and responsible research practices. Project work begins in or after January 2021 and individuals are expected to begin work no later than spring 2021. Work will go through May 2023.
QUALIFICATIONS: A Doctoral degree in electrical and computer engineering, computer science or a related field is required by the start date. Outstanding interpersonal, written and verbal communication, and analytic skills are required. Must be able to work from home, if necessary. Knowledge of and expertise in working with neural networks are preferred.
