The Biology Department of the College of Natural, Behavioral, and Health Sciences at Simmons University is seeking applicants for an adjunct instructor position in the Biology Department to teach two online sections of Biol 104 – Introduction to Environmental Science, to begin February 1, 2021 and end May 15, 2021. This is a replacement position for the Spring 2021 semester only.
Biol 104 introduces basic principles of ecology and environmental science relevant to the interactions between humans and their environment, unity and interconnections of life, and processes that drive ecological health. Relevance of ecology to today’s society with emphasis on natural resource use, conservation, and the relationships of ecological health to human health.
Responsibilities: The adjunct instructor will be responsible for the online course platform, and will need to record asynchronous lectures based on current lecture materials. In addition, the adjunct instructor will conduct two synchronous sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00-9:20AM and 9:30-10:50AM.
Requirements: Master’s or Ph.D. degree, experience teaching Biology and/or Environmental Science courses.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience teaching online.
