Adjunct – Small Engine Repair Instructor at Maryland Correctional Training Center

The Continuing Education division is accepting applications for an adjunct instructor to teach an ESOL course at Maryland Correctional
Training Center (MCTC).

This is an instructional position at the Maryland Correctional Training Center (MCTC) in which the teacher is
responsible for preparing incarcerated students to obtain an entry level position in the field of Small Engine Repair (SER).  The SER
curriculum was designed to help students understand the basic fundamentals of the industry in a way that is engaging, interesting, and
relevant.  The instructor will teach students how to service small engines often found in lawn and garden equipment, snow blowers, or small
appliances.  Hands-on activities and instruction will introduce students to the basic principals of two-cycle and four-cycle engine
operation, fuel and exhaust systems, ignition components, lubrication systems, and cooling systems.  The course will also utilize MD Labor
workforce development resources to help students understand their career aspirations and prepare them for employment

Temporary, Part-time

Education and Experience: 

Education and experience – High school
diploma required; at least two years of teaching experience or providing on-the-job training is welcomed; enjoy detail-oriented work;
self-starter who follows through from planning to instruction; preferably at least two years of experience in performing service repairs on
small equipment and appliances such as mowing equipment and handheld power tools and equipment; ability to perform basic repairs and
required maintenance using special tools and equipment following Technical Manual procedures. Required background check with fingerprinting
prior to hire.
