Job Description

The
title/rank Lecturer may be applied to instructional personnel on a contract per semester basis. Such instructional personnel usually are
employed with adjunct status. Adjunct and part-time faculty members must meet the same levels of academic preparation as full-time faculty
members. The adjunct faculty member shall have the primary responsibilities of providing instruction and monitoring teaching/learning
effectiveness in the course(s) assigned by the Department Chair. The adjunct faculty member shall be held accountable for these obligations
as they contribute to the attainment of the mission of the University, School/College and the Department.

Required
Qualifications

A terminal degree in appropriate discipline; and evidence of effective teaching and scholarly
activity.

Job Duties

  • Provide instruction for assigned course(s);
  • prepare/distribute
    syllabus;
  • inform students of progress by promptly returning assignments, quizzes, Third Week Grade assessments, and
    examinations;
  • compile, administer, and grade instruments that evaluate student progress;
  • provide course and classroom
    conduct as outlined in the Adjunct Faculty Handbook and the Faculty-Staff Policy Manual;
  • follow procedures related to the Registrar
    s Office, including grade reports and deadlines, attendance record reports, withdrawal deadlines, mid-semester progress reports,
    etc.;
  • conduct office/conference hours;
  • all faculty members are to submit requests for ordering required textbooks for
    assigned courses (the instructor has basic responsibility for the selection/adoption of required texts, subject to approval of the chair of
    the respective academic department, the appropriate School/College Dean and the Vice President for Academic Affairs);
  • participate in
    adjunct faculty evaluation; and
  • perform other duties as assigned within the scope of current position
