Job Summary

Teach assigned classes and perform
related activities to classroom instruction. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the

  1. Meet classes at assigned times.
  2. Plan course content and assign appropriate course work.
  3. Maintain student records.
  4. Evaluate student progress and assign grades.
  5. Revise course outlines, objectives, and catalog
    information as needed.
  6. Select appropriate texts and teaching materials.
  7. Maintain office hours convenient for students and
    as required by college policies.
  8. Prepare course/class reports as required.
  9. Attend and participate in conferences related
    to teaching area; membership in appropriate professional organizations is recommended.
  10. Submit budget requests and written narrative
    when appropriate.
  11. Keep abreast of current developments in the profession.
  12. Community engagement
  13. Participate in
    department, division meetings and in‑service training, etc.
  14. Participate in assessment of student learning at the course, program,
    and institution level.
  15. Assist in short‑range and long‑range planning.
  16. Assist in program assessment planning.
  17. Assist in student recruitment and retention activities.
  18. Related duties may be assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications

Earned Master’s
Degree in Accounting or related field with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in Accounting and immediate ability to teach multiple sections of
Accounting courses. 

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Course work and post-secondary teaching experience in
    the following areas: Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Microcomputer Spreadsheet Application in Accounting, General Ledger
    Software Applications in Accounting, Cost Accounting, Intermediate Accounting I, Intermediate Accounting, Federal Income Tax, Fraud
    Detection and Deterrence, Accounting Capstone
  2. Certified Public Accounting Designation
  3. Knowledge of Software
  4. Related Business Experience
  5. College Teaching Experience
  6. Ability to teach face to face, hybrid and,
    online synchronously and asynchronously
  7. Commitment to the mission of the community college and to high academic standards, as well
    as interest in department and college initiatives.
  8. Knowledge of and ability to work with diverse students and staff
