The Computer Information Sciences (CIS) Department at Missouri Southern State University
(MSSU) is seeking applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant level beginning in the fall of 2021. Missouri
Southern State University (MSSU) is a four-year liberal arts institution serving over 5,000 students. Expanding graduate and undergraduate

located in Joplin, MO, which is considered to be the Crossroads of America, and serves as the commercial hub for the four states area.
Joplin is a resilient, vibrant, and growing city with a population of over 52,000 serving a combined metro area of 210,000 and a market area
of over 350,000 people in Missouri, Oklahoma, and Kansas. Parks, sports, lakes, hunting, fishing, biking, and entertainment characterize the
Joplin region’s quality of life. With a temperate, four-season climate, there is plenty of opportunity to enjoy the outdoors from
community parks, to walking and biking trails to floating down one of the many area Ozark streams. Art galleries, museums, concerts, and the
variety of shopping and eateries offered throughout the region add to the year-round quality of living in the area. The Joplin area also
offers a low cost of living, one of the lowest housing costs in the United States, and strong medical care with two major regional medical
centers based in Joplin. Joplin schools and those in the nearby communities are some of the most recognized and respected schools in the
state. There is quick and easy access to Northwest Arkansas, Kansas City, and Tulsa, as well as numerous outdoor activities and attractions
throughout the Ozarks.

The CIS Department serves approximately 175 majors with four full-time faculty members. The department is
seeking qualified individuals to teach a variety of courses which may include system analysis and design, database management, software
engineering, LAN administration, website administration, networking, and data analytics. Candidates with strong computer programming skills
and some expertise in the area of cyber security are of particular interest.

Candidates must demonstrate a strong desire to excel in
teaching and service to the department, school, and university. Candidates must also exhibit a strong interest in building and maintaining a
sustainable program of scholarship and creative activity. Academic requirements for this position include an earned doctorate in computer
information science, information technology, or computer science from a regionally accredited university by no later than August 1, 2021.
(Candidates without a doctorate degree may be considered for a Master Instructor position).

Finalists must successfully complete an
onsite interview, teaching demonstration, and research presentation as judged by the CIS faculty. Recommendation for hiring by the majority
of the faculty members will be made to the Dean. Prior to a final offer of employment, the selected candidates will be required to submit to
a background check.
