The School of Arts & Sciences is
seeking to fill a part-time Online Adjunct Instructor in Computer Information Systems for undergraduate courses.

Requirements include
a Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited institution and a Ph. D. Degree in Computer Science
preferred.

  • Use your subject matter expertise to lead/participate in online discussions with students at least 5 out of 7 days
    per week (asynchronously)
  • Use your subject matter expertise to provide accurate assessments of and rich feedback on student work
    within 4 days of submission
  • Employs positive and professional tone in all communications with students, staff and faculty
  • Provides direction and leadership within the classroom by displaying and effective working knowledge of the subject matter and by
    demonstrating best practices relating to teaching/instructional techniques
  • Respond to all student requests for help within 24 hours
    by email, phone, or instant messaging
  • Be available for help by phone and instant messaging 3 scheduled hours per week
  • Participate in on-going training
  • Serve as a mentor for other adjuncts

Education:

Master’s
Degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited institution and/or Doctoral degree in Computer Science or closely
related discipline preferred. Candidates in final stages of the dissertation process can apply. 

Experience:

Two
years of experience teaching at the post-secondary level. Online teaching and/or learning experience.

Other:

Must be
willing to embrace new technologies, must have the ability to work with diverse student population, familiarity with current research in
best practices of learning-centered teaching, familiarity with current research in adult learning theory, familiarity with current research
in accelerated learning, attention to detail and willingness to perform all duties as assigned, and passion for education.
