Job Summary and

The Lansing Community College Technical Careers Division, led by exceptional faculty in over 30
program areas, is seeking individuals who possess strong knowledge and skills in their field and have a passion to share their expertise
with tomorrow’s emerging workforce.  We focus on providing students with high quality education and training, including significant hands-on

The successful applicant will be
responsible for the instruction of Electrical Technology courses in a majority of the following areas:

  • DC theory
  • AC
    theory (single phase and three-phase)
  • Industrial solid state theory
  • Motors and Transformers
  • Motor controls
    including Variable Frequency Drives
  • Programmable Controllers
  • Safety including OSHA and NEC® 70E
  • National
    Electrical Code®
  • Electrical Wiring
  • Low-voltage wiring including networking

Strong communication skills and
computer proficiency are a must. This full-time teaching position includes instruction of three to five courses per semester in the areas
listed above based on qualifications, interest, and experience. There is a possibility of teaching night and weekend courses, online or
hybrid courses.

Other primary responsibilities include assisting in course coordination, development and improvement; advising
students and meeting scheduled office hours; and regular participation in departmental and divisional teams and in college-wide committees.
The successful applicant must be able to work effectively with other faculty and staff in a rapidly changing team environment and support
and contribute to diversity and student success initiatives. The applicant chosen must remain current in the field of electrical technology
and in teaching methodologies. A commitment to professional development and learning is needed. The successful applicant will enjoy working
with diverse populations, but still be able to connect one-on-one with students. This individual will have good listening skills and the
ability to understand the needs of others, be flexible, and maintain a high work ethic and integrity.

Education and Experience


  • Bachelor’s Degree in
    a related field and two (2) years minimum experience in the field; OR Associate’s Degree in a related field and five (5) years minimum
    experience in the field; OR Journey or Master’s license (completion of an apprenticeship) and five (5) years minimum experience in the
    field; OR Certificate in a related field and six (6) years minimum experience in the field; OR HS diploma/GED and seven (7) years minimum
    experience in the field.


  • Holds a journey electrician’s license or has completed a US DOL (or
    equivalent) apprenticeship in an electrical trade.
  • Associate’s Degree in electrical / electronics or a Bachelor’s Degree in an
    electrical discipline.
  • Teaching experience in electrical technology or a related field.
  • Experience with alternate delivery
    methods for courses, including online, hybrid, video, and 3-D instructional techniques. 
  • Familiarity with on-line course management
    systems (i.e. Desire 2 Learn).
  • Experience in successfully obtaining and managing private, state, and federal
  • Successful experience in an automation environment.
