The College is currently searching for a temporary full-time Instructor of
Environmental Studies within the College’s STEM Division. Under the general supervision of the Associate Dean of Science,
Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, the Instructor of Environmental Studies is responsible for teaching 15 credits per semester of
day, evening, and weekend classes in Geology and Environmental Studies; helping to coordinate course and program assessment across the
division; supporting the administration and logistics of the Environmental Studies programs; working with faculty to develop open education
resources (OER); participating in division activities such as curriculum development and academic advisement; and contributing to the
College community through committee work or other extracurricular activities. This is a temporary full-time position.

- A Master’s degree in Environmental Sciences, Geology, or
Sustainability and Environmental Studies, or Ecology, from an accredited institution of higher education, as well as a minimum of one-year
teaching experience (preferably at the community college level).
- Experience in Distance Education is preferred.
Major Position Responsibilities:
- Classroom responsibilities
- Teach 15 credits per semester of courses associated with the Environmental Studies program
classes/laboratories on the day and times assigned.
- Use a multitude of strategies to create a learning environment that fully
embraces and promotes diversity and equity in the classroom.
- Develop and implement instruction for each class/laboratory period
which is consistent with the official course outline.
- Develop and distribute the first week of class, a written syllabus for each
course to communicate to student’s course objectives, grading criteria, and classroom policies.
- Demonstrate respect for
student rights as specified in the College policy and applicable laws.
- Ensure course textbooks and instructional materials are made
available to students in a timely manner.
- Refer students to tutoring and related student services when appropriate.
- Evaluation of Students
- Evaluate student progress toward meeting course objectives; advise the students of course objectives, methods
of evaluation, and the results of the evaluation.
- Return assignments and examination results in a timely fashion.
