As a leader in health education for more than 60 years, Gwynedd Mercy University is proud to launch an innovative Public Health Program to respond to the growing need for public health experts. GMercyU’s commitment to academic excellence with a strong value of promoting social justice in a diverse world has led to the development of two new degree programs, a Master of Public Health with a concentration in Health Equity and a Bachelor of Science in Public Health with a concentration in Health Education. The goal of the Public Health Program is to prepare practitioners, researchers, and health educators whose impact will benefit communities through collaborative and compassionate care. Our first students will enroll in Fall 2021.

GMercyU seeks an individual dedicated to educating public health professionals focused on reducing health disparities. Qualified applicants should:

  • Have an earned doctoral degree in public health, epidemiology, environmental health or a related field
  • Demonstrate an emphasis in using and teaching quantitative research methods
  • Document their research experience, highlighting work addressing social determinants of health and health equity
  • Ideally have experience teaching undergraduate or graduate level courses
  • Be prepared to develop and teach a variety of courses in the public health program

The applicant for Assistant Professor in the Public Health Program will join the faculty in January 2021. This is a tenure track faculty position that provides a unique opportunity for an individual to be involved with the development of a new public health program, collaborating with the program director to prepare documentation for accreditation. In addition to teaching and research responsibilities, the faculty member will serve as an academic advisor for undergraduate and graduate students. The position reports to the Director of the Public Health program, located within the School of Arts and Sciences. Salary is commensurate with academic credentials and experience.
