Summary of Job Duties:
The
Assistant/Associate Professor in Precision Ag Technologies will provide exemplary leadership in establishing innovative research and
teaching programs in precision agriculture technologies. This position will also be expected to collaborate with faculty in other
departments on research and teaching efforts. The Assistant/Associate Professor will develop and teach courses related to the applications
of precision agriculture technologies. It is anticipated that this position will lead a collaborative effort in the development of courses
to comprise a new undergraduate curriculum concentration in this area. The Assistant/Associate Professor will develop a comprehensive,
extramurally-funded research program, in collaboration with a similar position in the Department of Crop, Soil, and Environmental Sciences
on the integration of precision agriculture technologies in agricultural production, as well as direct student research and training in
these areas. The integration of computer technology and electronic control systems into agricultural equipment, sensors, GPS navigation,
satellite imagery, drone imagery, the use of “big data,” and data-driven decision-making is quickly revolutionizing agricultural production
and processing. The University of Arkansas must prepare students for these careers and contribute to cutting-edge research in the
applications of these technologies. This position will proactively lead continuing efforts to build strong, multidisciplinary academic and
research programs in this applied area.

Qualifications:

Minimum
Qualifications:

  • PhD in Agricultural Systems Management, Agricultural Education, Agronomy, Agricultural Engineering, or
    a closely-related discipline from an accredited institution of higher education conferred by the start of employment
  • Demonstrated
    expertise in, or potential for, applications of precision agriculture technologies
  • Strong record of teaching in an academic
    setting, academic achievement including peer-reviewed publications
  • Demonstrated ability to obtain extramural funding
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups, including students, colleagues, and external stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industry experience in this area is preferred
