Alfred State, SUNY College of Technology, seeks qualified applicants for a ten month, tenure track position in
the Mechatronics Technology AAS and BS programs starting January 2021. This position focuses on teaching, laboratory work, and project-based
learning through industry partnerships. The department is interested in individuals who have a passion for relating engineering theory to
practical application, enabling students to “learn by doing.” We are seeking a self-motivated Mechatronics Engineer with a broad background
to make an impact in the development of the mechatronics curriculum and the integration of laboratory equipment. Candidates should also
expect to support and teach related electrical and mechanical engineering technology courses.
- Establish contacts with regional industries and recruit industrial advisory board
- Teach a variety of undergraduate mechanical and electrical engineering technology and mechatronics technology courses in
both lecture and laboratory settings. The candidate would be responsible for all aspects of courses from laboratory set-up to grading and
- Responsible for managing successful set-up of new process control trainers and their incorporation into student
- Recruit students for the program, oversee senior projects, and advise club project
- Collaborate on departmental initiatives ranging from ETAC-ABET accreditation to program and course development for
Mechatronics degree programs.
- A minimum of three years of
relevant industrial experience in Industry 4.0 including data networking, automation, robotics, control systems including PLCs,
troubleshooting/debugging/installation, manufacturing management, or equipment engineering, that ties directly to the mechatronics
- Demonstrated professional networking in community service and professional relationships. Master’s degree
required in mechatronics engineering technology, mechatronics engineering or a closely related field.
- Possession of excellent
written and oral communication skills.

engineering/technology teaching experience, ability to communicate, participation in professional societies and networking,
certifications/licenses, and scholarly activities.
