The Satcher Health Leadership Institute invites applications for a one-year multi-disciplinary post-doctoral training
fellowship opportunity designed to provide specific knowledge, skills, and experiences to prepare for a leadership role in promoting health
policies and practices to reduce health disparities and advance health equity. This opportunity will focus on developing expertise in health
equity and political determinants of health (PDoH), to begin September 15, 2020.
Political determinants of health create the social
drivers that affect all dynamics of health. The post-doc will assist in understanding these determinants, their origins, and their impact on
the equitable distribution of opportunities and resources to develop and implement actionable solutions to close the health gap in medically
The ideal candidate will have a record or promising evidence of an innovative, productive research program as
well as independently tackle one or more issues relevant to health policy and health inequity, health disparities, and social determinants
of health. Particular topics of interests include mental and behavioral health disparities, environmental health equity, COVID-19 and vulnerable communities, and community-based research and advocacy. The fellow will conduct and collaborate
on research projects, final reports, white papers and write competitive research proposals and grants.
The one-year fellowship begins
in September 2020. This is a full-time position, requiring residence in Atlanta, Georgia. Based on qualifications and departmental needs,
fellows may receive faculty appointments with Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) academic departments.
Education: Doctoral degree (PhD, DrPH, PsyD, JD or comparable terminal degree) or medical degree
(including residency training). Degree must be from a regionally accredited college/university.
Experience: Previous experience
participating in practice, teaching, and/or research responsibilities with an academic department or institution, and have community-based
