Manage IT project completion in a unit or department, requiring high levels of cross-functional integration and involving multiple disciplines to be managed. Perform project management oversight of small projects or one or more large tasks within a larger project.
Reporting to the Associate Registrar for Data Management and QA, this position holds primary responsibility for planning, conducting, and documenting quality assurance testing for the Division of Continuing Education Registrar’s Office. This position also plays a key role in the coordination and implementation of new programs and special projects.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Works with senior managers and developers to plan, execute, and document testing of Registrar’s Office enhancement requests for Banner SIS, online services, and related applications in order to meet critical deadlines and institutional goals.
- Creates test plans and develops, writes, and executes test scripts designed to test new functionality and database requirements. Assesses the impact of enhancement requests on current processing; reports and resolves bug fixes; documents and publishes test results.
- Participates in business analysis sessions for new development to build expert understanding of business processes, capture functional requirements, and define required testing clearly, completely, and correctly. Creates and maintains user documentation for Registrar’s Office business processes.
- Coordinates and conducts routine registration testing for a variety of test cases and applications for each registration and development cycle to maintain and ensure stability of current applications. Tests and documents required systems configurations; trains staff on configurations.
- Contributes to the analysis and improvement of the software quality assurance life cycle and development process, with specific focus on improving software QA processes. Supports new and ongoing initiatives by mentoring and leading other Registrar’s Office staff that require training and guidance.
- Works with senior Registrar’s Office staff and other stakeholders to establish timelines for special programming or project implementations; facilitates and coordinates planning meetings; utilizes project management software (Confluence/JIRA) to document progress and meeting results.
- Works with special project teams to determine testing requirements, define workflows, and coordinate testing. Documents test results and assists in the reporting and resolution of errors. Provides project manager time estimates for QA tasks.

- Occasionally expected to lead a project as a project manager
- Create and maintain training materials; act as a resource to school/unit staff
- Apply Harvard University’s IT technical standards and best practices

- Minimum of two years’ post-secondary education and/or relevant work experience
- Demonstrated cross-functional project leadership experience
- Demonstrated team performance skills, service mindset approach, and the ability to act as a trusted advisor
- Attitude that supports an Agile working environment
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Three plus (3+) years of experience working with databases and student records. Experience testing system functions.
- Proficiency with retrieving and interpreting academic information from electronic databases, highly preferred.
- Work experience in a Registrar’s Office or other academic setting a plus.
- Experience with Ellucian Banner, Salesforce CRM, or other enterprise and/or student information systems highly desired.
- Excellent organizational skills with particular ability to prioritize work in an environment with multiple and conflicting interests.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical staff. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and as part of a team.
