The Department of Mathematical and Computational Sciences at The College of Wooster invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant
Professor of Computer Science to start in August 2021. The department has twelve full-time faculty, and offers majors in Computer Science,
Mathematics, and Statistical & Data Sciences, graduating approximately 50 seniors each year. We place a strong emphasis on experiential
learning, with every student completing a year-long senior thesis project and many participating in our unique Applied Methods & Research
Experience summer consulting program.
We are especially interested in hiring faculty who can contribute to the intellectual vibrancy and
diversity of the academic community through their teaching, research, and service. The College of Wooster enrolls a diverse student body
(22% domestic students of color and 16% international students); all applicants are expected to discuss their experience working with
diverse student populations.

The successful candidate will teach the equivalent of 5.5 courses annually. This number includes
credited mentoring of senior thesis projects as part of the College’s Independent Study program, along with teaching introductory and
advanced classes, and periodic participation in the College’s interdisciplinary First-Year Seminar program. Applicants in all areas of
computer science will be considered; those in the following areas are particularly encouraged to apply: computational humanities, arts, and
social sciences; graphics and augmented reality; computer networks and security; databases. A Ph.D. in computer science is required.

Please submit through Interfolio a cover letter, CV, unofficial graduate transcripts, teaching statement, research statement,
one-page diversity statement, and three reference letters. The diversity statement should speak to the candidate’s ability to engage with
issues of diversity in the classroom and the curriculum, as well as on campus and/or the broader community. Questions concerning the search
process should be directed to Sofia Visa, Computer Science Search Committee Chair. Review of applications will begin October 7 and continue
until the position is filled.
