The Director of Information Technology (IT) and the IT functional area are key to Unity College’s
increasing emphasis on remote learning, a distributed workforce, and its pivot to cloud-based solutions and infrastructure. Have you led
transformational projects? We are looking for a leader who can move from strategic conversation to application design, or review of a
network to an implementation project plan, as Unity College builds on its Distance Education Sustainable Education Business Unit (SEBU) head
start with remote learning.
The Director of IT provides leadership and operational oversight for all Information Technology (IT). The
Director is responsible for coaching staff and identifying processes and standards that assist with consistent positive delivery of IT
services. The Director identifies continuous improvements, and is responsible for budgeting, financial planning, cost control, and vendor
relations. The Director partners with other employees at all levels and all units of the institution and leads the IT team to deliver
effective IT services based on industry best practices to students and employees in support of teaching, student learning, administrative
processes, research, outreach, etc. The Director of IT assists with related strategic College efforts including remote teaching, learning,
and working; marketing and student recruitment; student success and retention; vendor and consortia management; and strategic
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in business, technology, or other field
appropriate to the work with a minimum of five (5) years progressively responsible IT administrative and supervisory development, cloud
applications support, database administration, networking, server virtualization, VoIP, and Microsoft 365. This is not a “hands on”
position, but while directly managing staff who provide these functions, you will need to ask appropriate questions, direct implementation
of standards and best practices, prioritize work and approve recommendations.
The following skills/competencies will be needed to
- Demonstrated experience leading a team of IT professionals in a service business
- Experience in project planning and management; ability to research, plan, develop and implement projects and
initiatives. Assist with systems design, implementation and support, working with staff to resolve issues.
