JOB DETAILS:

POSITION: A probationary tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor is
available in the Department of Watershed Institute for Collaborative Environmental Studies in the College of Arts and Sciences. The
appointment is for nine months with a possibility for summer appointment. The position will support the newly emerging public health major,
the public health minor, and the environmental public health comprehensive major. This appointment carries an initial two-year probationary
appointment beginning with the 2021/2022 academic year, August 23, 2021. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Doctorate in public
health or other relevant field; or MPH or equivalent with doctorate in a related field earned by August 22, 2021. (ABD applicants may be
considered but must complete the terminal degree by March 20, 2021.)

Potential for establishing an independent record of teaching,
scholarship, and publication. Demonstrated experience and/or commitment to the core values of equity, diversity and inclusivity.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience teaching courses at the university or college
    level
  • Demonstrated potential for an active research program that can effectively engage undergraduates from diverse
    backgrounds
  • Experience mentoring, advising or supervising students
  • Experience in public health practice
  • Demonstrated ability to develop collaborative relationships across disciplines and with external health organizations

DUTIES: Teach courses in the Department of Watershed Institute for Collaborative Environmental Studies based on program needs.  The
candidate is expected to teach a full course load each semester. Teaching responsibilities include one or more of the introductory public
health, global health, public health policy and/or epidemiology courses; and depending on disciplinary expertise, upper-level courses in
epidemiology, population health, public health research design and methods, and/or health disparities/health equity. The candidate is also
expected to coordinate capstone experiences; participate in research and scholarly activities; provide academic advising to students; and
participate in university faculty governance through service on department, college, and university committees. Willingness to work
collaboratively with faculty and to mentor students from a wide range of disciplines, cultures and academic backgrounds is essential. Active
participation in relevant public health organizations is expected. The faculty role includes traditional classroom, and/or online
teaching/learning as well as other innovations in professional education, cross-disciplinary initiatives, and community collaborations.

DEPARTMENT: The Department of Watershed Institute for Collaborative Environmental Studies consists of six full-time
faculty.  The Watershed Institute for Collaborative Environmental Studies houses the Public Health and Environmental Public Health majors,
and the Environment, Society and Culture, Public Health, and Environmental Science minors. We offer students highly impactful experiences to
complement classroom concepts across fields related to the environment, sustainability and human health. Our faculty of distinguished
scholars works closely with students, mentoring them through research, internships, civic engagement, and international and domestic
