Overview

The Yan Lab at San Diego State University in San
Diego, CA is interested in Photocatalytic Chemical Transformation, with focus on exploring high efficiency semiconductor materials towards
high performance photocatalysis. We particularly interested in new photocatalytic organic synthesis methodology design and development. Our
Funding sources include but not limited to DOE (Department of Energy) and NSF (National Science Foundation). The PI is committed to
supporting the development of the postdoctoral scientist for their next steps in their scientific career, both at and beyond the bench. For

Responsibilities:

The Postdoctoral
scientist is responsible for but not limited to:

Research, 80%

  • Photoredox reaction
    design
  • Reaction mechanism exploration
  • Materials characterization

Data analysis and communication,
10%

  • Data reporting
  • Data Presentations in a weekly meeting
  • Writing manuscripts

Professional development, 10%

  • Engaging in the opportunities and experiences that are required for the
    candidate to successfully transition to the next stage in their scientific career
  • Mentoring graduate and undergraduate
    students
  • Attending seminars, conferences, and other scientific educational opportunities

Qualifications:

Minimum Education

  • PhD in organic synthesis,
    photoredox organic methodology design, photocatalytic CO2 reduction or water splitting.

Preferred Experience

  • PhD organic synthesis, photoredox organic methodology design, photocatalytic CO2 reduction or water splitting
  • Expertise in
    photochemistry and photophysics
  • Publications in peer-reviewed journals in the category of photoredox organic synthesis and/or
    photocatalytic solar fuel generation
